Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital

There are two main reasons why we chose another MEIKO machine for the restaurant

Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital

"MEIKO has proved so reliable in use at the hospital. The previous (MEIKO) machine in the restaurant ran for 12 years, seven days per week for over 12 hours a day."

The Catering service at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital serves approximately 14,000 meals a week, operates 15 hours per day, 365 days of the year and employs more than 140 full and part-time staff.

The service provides meals chiefly to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital Wonford and Heavitree sites. There are two large dishwashing systems at the main hospital. Both are MEIKO machines. One caters to the demand from the patient meals service. The other system, replaced recently, handles the 7am-8pm workload from the main restaurant.

Shirley Jones is the Patient Meals Service Manager at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. “There are two main reasons why we chose another MEIKO machine for the restaurant."

“First, MEIKO has proved so reliable in use at the hospital. The previous machine in the restaurant ran for 12 years, seven days per week for over 12 hours a day. The restaurant seats 300 and we serve more than 500 hot meals daily, plus snacks and sandwiches. There is also a separate and equally reliable MEIKO system for the patient meals service, which supplies meals to 31 wards. MEIKO has proved to be a most trusted brand.

Secondly, the after sales support from MEIKO has been superb. If something goes wrong and either of the dishwashers needs an engineer to call, they are here almost immediately; if they are not here the same day you call, it will be the next day.

For a hospital operation of this size, having such reliable machines and responsive technical support has been invaluable. As dishwashers become older, they do need more attention from the engineers. We are on first name terms with the MEIKO Technical Services Engineer. Campbell really is first-class. He responds quickly if we report a fault; he has the right spares and knowledge to fix the problem and we are assured of the very best technical support.”
